The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics recently published a report about which jobs they expect to grow most in the near future. Unsurprisingly, their list reflects the power of well-known macro-trends in society, which include rising welfare demands, digitalization, learning, business, and development of infrastructure. Further, these jobs will do well even with rising digitalization and automation, since the demand is far ahead of supply. Anyone thinking about their career should consider the importance of aligning oneself in favor of these macro-trends. Hence, we selected the top 9 jobs from that list, and will introduce them below.

1. Healthcare Support
As indicated by the word “support”, this group includes many different kinds of healthcare aides and assistants. They typically work in nursing homes, hospitals, clinics, home healthcare, and dentistry. Educational requirements are also less for these jobs vis-à-vis the healthcare jobs in the following section.

2. Healthcare Practitioners and Technical
Naturally, people in this group and the preceding, share workplace. One of the key differences being that their jobs often require more education, with some examples being surgeons, veterinarians, psychiatrists, and registered nurses.

3. Construction and Extraction
Our infrastructure is in constant development, and there is no reason to think that will ever end. Hence, we need people who can extract, apply, and maintain the resources our society needs for said purpose. Some examples of occupations are pipelayers, stonemasons, roofers, miners, and carpenters.

4. Personal Care and Service
This group is very broad, including everything from barbers, animal trainers, fitness trainers, funeral directors, childcare workers, motion picture projectionists, to travel guides. As such, some of these jobs are more future-proof than others.

5. Computer and Mathematical Occupations
Logic is King in these occupations. Digitalization is only in its early innings, with the Internet of Things being its next stage. While mathematics is a tool very few master, so it is sellers’ market.

6. Community and Social Service
Some occupations in this group are counselors, social workers, therapists, health educators, clergy, and probation officers.

7. Building and Grounds Cleaning and Maintenance
We need people that keep things in-order, i.e. the likes of janitors, groundskeepers, pest controllers, tree trimmers, housekeepers, and maids.

8. Business and Financial Operations Occupations
A company consists of many wheels, with accounting, taxing, human resources, management, marketing, being just a brief selection. These functions have been around since the dawn of civilization, and will be relevant in the foreseeable future as well.

9. Education, Training, and Library
Learning is very important in a knowledge economy. Anything related to that is well positioned.
